Disgruntled worker returns to rob store

IPOH: A former 24-hour convenience store worker, who was unhappy with his former manager, returned to rob the store.

In the 1.50am incident on Monday, the suspect, in his 20s, had entered the store at Jalan Laxamana here, which was manned by a cashier and demanded to see his former manager.

A police source said as the cashier was trying to call the manager, the suspect took out a pepper spray bottle and threatened the cashier to clear out the cash register for him.

Fearing for his life, the victim then handed over four packets of cigarettes and RM50 money order to the suspect.

“The suspect left the store after grabbing the items handed over by the cashier,” said the source.

The cashier later lodged a report on the matter at the Pekan Baru police station.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong when contacted confirmed the incident.
