DPM presents 264 headmasters with New Incentive Payment Offer

PUTARAJAYA: A total of 264 headmasters received the New Incentive Payment Offer (BITB), an initiative introduced in 2010 by the Education Ministry to promote the country's education sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the government had spent RM10 million for the BITB, benefiting about 8,000 educators and staff at primary level.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister congratulated 12 headmasters, who are five time recipients of the BITB.

"Sarawak has the highest recipients with 60, followed by Johor with 32, Perak and Terengganu with 27 schools. In 2014, 673 schools were diversified and 264 schools qualified for the BITB.

"From the recipients this year, 73.11 per cent are rural schools. The efforts to bridge the gap and providing equal education opportunities have been fruitful between urban and rural schools," he said.

He added three-time recipients of BITB should be considered to develop new schools using their expertise and experience.
