UUM inks MoU with Orangetree Production

SINTOK: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Orangetree Production Sdn Bhd recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) to open a new chapter in establishing a string of network cooperation.

The ceremony was witnessed by Higher Education director-general Prof Datuk Dr Asma Ismail.

The cooperation will pave the way for collaboration on research and education project, executive training programme and student development programme.

UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak signed the MoU on behalf of the university while Orangetree Production Sdn Bhd was represented by its producer, Datuk Jaspal Singh Sher Singh.

Mohamed in a statement said the collaboration will serve as a platform for students, offering comprehensive services in various media forms including video applications by setting up the UniTV project.

“The UniTV project highlights five key elements, namely web-based streaming, mobile applications, daily updated materials, usage of television channels as well as educational and fictional materials in various forms.

“Through the UniTV project, students have the opportunity to learn and to create a media partnership in the form of film, drama and short film. Besides that, lecturers can also conduct their lectures and tutorials via the UniTV project channel,” he said.

Mohamed said UniTV project was one of the approaches in obtaining information related to the teaching and learning activities, besides providing business opportunity and delivering career-related information.

“In the future, UUM will also work together with the Orangetree Production in conducting the MySekolah Project,” he added.
