Wan Azizah to have heart-to-heart talks on shadow cabinet with Pas, DAP, PKR

SHAH ALAM: Opposition leader, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will hold heart-to-heart talks with the leaders of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), PAS and DAP, which make up the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) opposition front, about forming a shadow cabinet.

She said it was to give a clearer picture to the three parties that the shadow cabinet, announced on Monday, was ideal.

“DAP, PAS and PKR will also be given the opportunity to have their own spokespersons for a particular portfolio,” she told reporters after attending a Darul Ehsan dialogue series entitled ‘PRK Permatang Pauh and the Future of Malaysian Politics’, here, today.

She was responding to claims by DAP secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, who recently described the PR’s shadow Cabinet proposed by the Permatang Pauh MP as irrelevant.

Subsequently, DAP chose to set up their own shadow cabinet by announcing a list of 18 portfolios comprising the party’s MPs.

Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah, who is also president of PKR, in her welcoming speech at the dialogue session agreed that she was not the most qualified candidate to head the opposition.

“Actually, Lim Kit Siang (DAP adviser) should hold that office (opposition leader) as DAP holds the majority of seats in parliament,” she said.

When asked why she was chosen, the Kajang assemblyman declined to elaborate and simply gave the reason that PR’s leaders wanted her to hold the post. --Bernama
