KL shares remain lower mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained lower mid-morning weighed down by selected heavyweights.

At 11.03am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 13.15 points lower at 1,774.35 points. Among heavyweights, Maybank fell 8.0 sen to RM9.18, Tenaga erased 52 sen to RM13.18, Public Bank lost 16 sen to RM18.98 while Axiata was flat at RM6.52.

Among actives, AirAsia X was up one sen at 28 sen, Frontken fell 1.0 sen to 29 sen and IFCA MSC declined 20 sen to RM1.42.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index decreased 92.62 points to 12,260.79, the FBM Emas Shariah was down 117.93 points at 12,719.99 and the FBMT100 Index fell 86.4 points to 11,941.19.

The FBM Ace declined 169.84 points to 6,721.63 and the FBM 70 decreased 88.83 points to 13,365.01. On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index erased 74.43 points to 15,873.34, the Plantation Index shed 35.94 points to 7,455.8 and the Industrial Index fell 8.17 points to 3,249.84.

Market breadth was negative with losers outperforming gainers 595 to 110, while 215 counters were unchanged, 908 untraded and 15 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 881.8 million shares worth RM440.36 million. --BERNAMA
