139 grave sites, 28 trafficking camps found: IGP

WANG KELIAN: Police have discovered 139 graves of various sizes, 28 trafficking camps and one badly decomposed body in Wang Kelian during a two-week special ops which began on May 11.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the a team from police forensic and Health Department have been deployed to the 11km-discovery site to exhume the graves, believed to be of illegal immigrants, which was found near to the camps on peak of Gunung Perlis since early this morning.

He said police are making necessary preparations should there are remains found in the graves.

"As for now we are not certain what is buried in the graves and if there are human remains, we will make necessary arrangements to bring the remains out in respectful manner and without ruining the evidence.

"The process of bringing the remains, if any, is expected to be carried out the earliest by this evening.

"Our biggest challenge right now is the hilly terrain and rough path all the way down which will slow the process," he said in a press conference here today.
