Police warn fans to avoid any provocation during AIA cup tomorrow

SHAH ALAM: Firm action will be taken by the police if any suspicious act of provocation or chaos during or after the match of Malaysia XI against Tottenham Hotspurs in the AIA Cup, tomorrow at Shah Alam stadium.

Shah Alam district police chief Azisman Alias said police will not compromise if any of the individuals or any fan clubs tries to create stir or incite during the match or after.

“Up to date, about 30,000 fans are expected to turn up. We advise those who are going to see the match to leave their house early to avoid traffic during the rush hour.

“I want to remind to all the fans out there, items such as helmet, canned drinks, cigarette lighters, flares, wooden sticks, and firecrackers are not allowed. A thorough inspection will be conducted at the entry points and parking area,” he said, at a press conference at the Shah Alam police headquarters, today.

Azisman said about 800 police officers from various departments will be deployed to ensure smooth running of the game, including stationing a mobile police station inside the stadium.

“We do not want any untoward incident that could tarnish the country’s image. We are the host therefore we have made preparation establishing a strict control over the security in and around the stadium.

“We are also working closely with Shah Alam City Council (MBSA). Football fans who illegally park their cars will be issued a fine,” he said.

He advised fans to cooperate and follow instructions of the police.
