Strong earthquake strikes off Alaska coast

ANCHORAGE, Alaska: A strong earthquake has struck in a remote region off the coast of Alaska and officials say there is no tsunami threat or immediate report of damage.

The US Geological Survey says the magnitude-6.7 quake was centred in the ocean about 35 miles beneath the seabed and some 400 miles southwest of Anchorage, a remote and lightly populated Aleutian Island region.

The National Tsunami Warning Centre says there is no tsunami danger. --AP
