A narrow escape for Henley Hii

KUALA LUMPUR: It was a close call for local singer-songwriter and actor Henley Hii when the car he was travelling in was nearly hit by reckless drivers last Sunday.

According to Hii, he was driving along the North-South Highway when he noticed from his rearview mirror, two vehicles going at high speed, believed to be racing and trying to outdo each other.

Hii was on his way to Batu Pahat for a performance at the Honda Family Road Trip event.

Recounting the incident, the Kepong Gangster star who posted about the incident on his Facebook account, said: “Can’t believe that our car (was) involved in a dramatic accident!”

Following the post, Hii thought he would not be able to make it (on time for his performance). In his posting, he said that the two cars swerved into his lane.

“I slammed on the brakes just in time but the two cars collided with each other.

When contacted today, Hii said he was was travelling with his manager at the time. “It was really a close call.”

“The whole incident shook me up a little but I am glad everyone is fine,” he added.

In one of the photos posted by Hii on his Facebook, the actor was seen talking to a man, whom Hii later mentioned was one of the road users involved in the crash. “He wanted to take matters into his hands by punching the reckless drivers, but I helped calm him down,” he said, adding that the road user was upset since he was travelling with his child when the incident took place.

The actor also noted that debris and shards of glass from the impact were “flying everywhere”. Hii later updated his post and told everyone that he had arrived at his destination, safe and sound.
