No more manual Visa application for foreign workers starting from July 1

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department will no longer accept manual applications for Visas with Reference (VDR) for foreign workers beginning July 1.

Its Director-General Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim the department’s physical counters would remain open for two weeks after the electronic Visa with Reference (eVDR) is fully implemented on June 15.

The eVDR module is operated under the department’s Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS).

He said all potential migrants would have to undergo health checks at clinics registered with the department’s “Biomedical” module for biometric verification.

The verification process, which would be fully implemented online, was done for security screening purposes and to ascertain the person being inspected was the actual applicant.

“The eVDR module will be required for the purchase of insurance for foreign workers, and serves as a platform for online approvals for the VDR (approvals), allowing employers to make applications without having to wait the Immigration counters,”

Mustafa, in a statement today, said no additional charges would be imposed for the usage of eVDR.

“Employers must ensure their mobile phone numbers and email addresses were updated in the department’s system to confirm the authenticity of data (provided),” he said.
