KUALA LUMPUR: Five local celebrities will be leaving for Jordan next month to take part in a charity event from July 27 till Aug 3.
Singers Faizal Tahir, Aizat Amdan, Noh Salleh, Mu’adz Dzulkefly and Mizz Nina will be joining the five-day event which aims to raise funds for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan refugees camp.
Co-organised by non-governmental-organisations Fatiha Shuib and Friends; and Ikram For Syria Jordan, a special concert,“1 Moment For Them” will also be held on Aug 1 to collect funds among Asian students in Jordan for the refugees.
Its founder and project manager Fatiha Shuib said, the concert would be held at Khindi Hall, Yarmouk University in Jordan.
“Tickets for the concert are available online and all proceeds from the show will be used to prepare the refugees with winter necessities and also educational materials for the refugees,” she said at a Press conference recently.
Fatiha said other activities to be held include a series of sessions to provide moral support to the refugees.
“Members of the public who wish to donate are welcome to do so. At the moment we are looking at collecting educational and stationary tools to be donated to the refugees especially for the children there,” she added.
Faizal who was also present at the Press conference said, this would be his second time participating in a charity event that help war refugees. His first was in Lebanon four years ago.
“I didn’t think twice when I received the offer to be involved in this. After my first trip, I have always looked forward to join again, and this time around it means a lot more because I get to share my music with the refugees. We want to bring positive vibes through positive music,” he said.
The singer added he would also perform his latest hit Assalamualaikum at the concert.
“Assalamualaikum promotes peace and love. I hope the messages in the tune will reach them,” he added.
