Che Ta's Raya preparations include 60 new outfits

KUALA LUMPUR: Rozita Che Wan is probably the only actress who has prepared the most number of apparels for this coming Raya celebration - 60 pieces altogether!

This revelation stunned some of the media members who were in an interview session with her at the recent LOL Entertainment’s buka puasa do in Sunway Putra Hotel here.

According to the 42-year-old, she has allocated 20 garments each for herself, her actor husband Zain Saidin and their little one Aaisyah Dhia Rana (7 months old), respectively.

The materials for the attires are sponsored by Jakel, and the family will be donning colour-coordinated outfits designed by renowned local designers Rizman Ruzaini, Amy Janz and Innai Red.

On the shocking large number of Raya attires, Che Ta (as she is more fondly known) has her reasons.

She said, “When we’re invited to attend Raya events like open house, we will have something new to wear for each outing. In fact, I had 30 outfits made for last year’s Raya celebration.

“I can’t possibly ‘recycle’ the clothes by wearing them again since people would take notice and that would set tongues wagging... they might say I don’t have the budget to make nice clothes,” she said.

Che Ta did try selling off her old clothes, but many of them were returned since the cutting did not suit the buyers. So, she had no choice but to keep them.

With tons of clothes that she owned, the TV personality had to resort to renting a three-bedroom condominium to store them.

Meanwhile, on her Hari Raya preparations, the TV personality said that everything is ready. “We’ve ordered all our favourite Raya cookies. Semprit and pineapple tarts are compulsory at our home.

“And since our current furniture still looks brand new, there is no reason to buy new ones for Raya,” she added.

Making this Raya celebration more meaningful for Che Ta and Zain is little Aaisyah.

“Before I had her, I often looked at mothers who dress up their infant daughters in cute attires especially the baju kurung. I can’t wait for my own little girl to don hers,” she said.

“This year, Aaisyah will be wearing several fully laced baju kurung. And she will not be recycling her clothes too!” she joked.

On whether Che Ta is planning to add more to their brood, she said, “I don’t want to but Zain wants many more.”

“Bringing up a child is not easy. It is quite a challenge for any parent. We have to think about the long term... about their future,” she said, adding that, she didn’t want to have young children at old age.

This year, Che Ta, Zain and Aaisyah, together with her sons from her previous marriage Aniq Ezzra, 17, and Ammar Effendy, 19, will be celebrating the first day of Hari Raya at her mother-in-law’s house in Bukit Antarabangsa.

On the second day, they will be heading to Che Ta’s hometown in Alor Star, Kedah for several days.

On the eve of Hari Raya, Rozita will be hosting a live TV programme over Astro. She is also down for a hosting gig for TV1’s 13-episode programme Teh Tarik Bersama Che Ta, where she will bring viewers into the homes of local celebrities.

“I’m blessed (to have this job). If not, I’d have to work the paddy fields in Kedah!” she joked.
