SEMPORNA: Security forces exchanged fire with gunmen at waters near Pulau Pom-Pom here, early this morning.
In the 3am incident, General Operation Force personnel detected presence of a boat with a group of men believed to be cross-border criminals.
Eastern Sabah Security Command commander Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun said the gunmen fired at the personnel, prompting security forces to return fire.
“No personnel were injured and the suspects managed to escape.”
