Parents of suspected abused baby under police remand

SUNGAI PETANI: Parents of the four-month-old infant who slipped into coma, believed to be abused, were served with four-day remand orders in the Magistrate Court here following their arrests last night.

The remand order, which would be carried out until July 10, was issued by magistrate Hadi Hakimi Harun.

Both of the accused, Mohd Saifudin Seman, 26, and wife Wan Norshafiah Wan Zain, 25, were detained after being called to the Kuala Muda district police headquarters to record their statement at 11pm yesterday.

The victim, Putri Wafa Mohd Saifudin was currently receiving treatment at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital since July 1 after experiencing seizures and slipped into coma due to internal bleeding in both her eyes and brain, known as subdural haemorrhage.

Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) Child Act 2001.
