Lorry attendant charged over alleged helmet-whacking

KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry attendant was charged over his alleged repeated bashing of an insurance agent with a black motorcycle helmet.

M. Parthiban, 23, was charged at the magistrate's court today with hurting M. Stephen, 40, with multiple whacks on the back of his head and neck with the helmet.

Parthiban was accused of committing the offence at the waiting room outside the emergency room of Kuala Lumpur Hospital here at 10.10pm on Sunday.

Parthiban may be jailed up to three years, fined, whipped, or sentenced with any two of the mentioned penalties if convicted under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Nur Azura Murah granted RM2,000 bail with one surety and fixed July 27 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Ezrene Zakariah prosecuted while Parthiban was unrepresented.
