Orphanages get aid from Johor Umno

JOHOR BARU: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and his wife Datin Seri Tengku Marsila Tengku Abdullah handed out contributions to 45 orphans from two orphanages at a break of fast event hosted by Johor Umno leaders and members at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre here tonight.

The recipients were from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Shafar and Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Shafar.

Kulai Umno division chief Datuk Zainal Abidin Jidin said in his welcoming speech that this was the first this year that he was breaking with Hishammuddin, who is also Umno vice-president.

Zainal Abidin said he was honoured that Hishammuddin was taking time from his busy schedule to meet with the grassroots in Johor.

"Most times Datuk Seri Hishammuddin would hold a breaking of fast for the ministry or his personal capacity in Kuala Lumpur. But most times, not many Johor Umno leaders can attend that event.

"As Johor Umno leaders, we are honoured to have his presence here tonight because this year, the event is held at Persada Johor, " Zainal told the crowd of more than 1,0000.

Also present was Johor Islamic Religious Council advisor Datuk Nooh Gadut.
