KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has been appointed as the new Johor Umno liaison committee chairman with immediate effect.
The Johor Menteri Besar replaces Higher Education Minister and Kota Tinggi member of parliament Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Onn Hafiz's appointment to the position was announced by Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in a statement.
Asyraf also announced the appointment of former Telemung assemblyman Datuk Rozi Mamat as the new Terengganu Umno liaison committee chairman, replacing former Terengganu menteri besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said.
"On behalf of the big family in Umno, I would like to extend my appreciation to Khaled and Ahmad for their sacrifice, efforts and commitment in leading Johor and Terengganu Umno.
"May we continue with our efforts to strengthen and empower Umno as the party which champions the people, religion and the country," said Asyraf.
