PUTRAJAYA: The government has set up a statutory body known as Public Sector Housing Financing Board under the Finance Ministry to manage matters relating to housing loans for civil servants.
Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said in a statement today that the board would ensure that the housing loans will be made efficiently by maintaining all existing terms and facilities.
This is following allegations that the government will discontinue housing loans to civil servants to strengthen the country's fiscal position as reported by a local television station.
"Such allegation is incorrect and we regret that the statement was published without referring to the ministry first.
"As the matter of fact, the government will improve the financing of housing loans for civil servants," he said.
