DAP prepared to work with GHB, says Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: DAP is prepared to establish cooperation with the newly-formed Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) or New Hope Movement because it differs from PAS, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Lim, who is the Penang chief minister, said the struggle of the leaders who made up the interim committee was more progressive, far different from that of PAS.

“We (DAP) feel that we can work with this group of progressive and moderate Muslims as their objective is to build a more inclusive Malaysia,” he told reporters.

Former PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu last week announced the formation of GHB which comprises many PAS senior leaders who failed in the party elections last month.

GHB, which has applied for registration as a political party, is widely seen as a replacement for PAS in the opposition Pakatan Rakyat pact now that DAP and PAS have parted ways. The third partner in Pakatan Rakyat is PKR. – BERNAMA
