ALOR STAR: Newly-minted Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid today thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for entrusting him with the new position.
In a brief statement, Mahdzir said the post was a big responsibility, as education is the core thrust towards achieving developed nation status.
"I will strive to ensure the education sector in the country becomes more advance, and I hope all quarters will give their full backing in undertaking this challenging task," he said.
Prior to the cabinet reshuffle announced by Najib today, Mahdzir held the post of Deputy Energy, Green Technology, and Water Minister.
He now replaces Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was also dropped as Deputy Prime Minister.
