30 detained during Ops Ikrar Kemaman

KEMAMAN: State Immigration Department enforcement officers arrested 30 illegal immigrants including three children in the operations which ended at 4am yesterday.

Its enforcement officer Ahmad Salihin Salleh said 20 officers were involved in the 'Ops Ikrar' at seven separate locations in the district.

According to Salihin, a total of 82 foreigners were checked at different construction sites, rental houses, kongsi houses and premises situated at kg Meraga Beris, Teluk Kalong and Chukai.

"We have detained 30 of them for overstaying and for not having valid travel documents during the operations," he said.

He said those detained are aged between 4 and 44-year-old with nine Indonesians, a Bangladeshi and the rest are from Myanmar.

All detainees were sent to Ajil Detention centre.
