11-year-old gives birth to a baby boy in Jempol

BAHAU: A Standard Five pupil has gave birth to a baby boy at a private clinic here this morning.

It is learnt that the primary school student complained of stomach pain before her mother brought her to a nearby clinic at 9am.

Jempol district police chief Superintendent Hamzah Alias said upon checking, doctor informed the 11-year-old that she was pregnant and experiencing labour pains.

“The doctor had asked the mother to send her daughter to the hospital immediately. However, while waiting for the ambulance, the student’s amniotic fluid leaked.

“Thus she had to give birth at the clinic before being transferred to Jempol Hospital.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl lived with her parents in Bahau. We are investigating the matter,” he said.
