KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says solid support from Sabah will ensure the nation remains on track with its agenda to become a developed nation.
Zahid who is as here for a Hari Raya gathering with State leaders and the people said the unwavering support to the national leadership will ensure country overcome challenges that come its way.
"The strong coalition and cooperation that is evident in the State was a positive sign that the leaders and people will stand by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) and me as his deputy," he said in his speech.
Zahid said he was well aware that negative perceptions are being spun to create a culture of hatred but with the solid support coming from Sabah "the ship will sail on course as there is a team that could save it".
He also told how Sabah would have a special place in its heart, not only because of the people and the leaders but it was where he was once detained under the Internal Security Act 1952 which had since been repealed.
Earlier Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said both Najib and Zahid represent a powerful and solid combination, adding the state will continue to give them its undivided support.
Zahid, who is also Home Minister, is in the state for his first official visit as the Deputy Prime Minister. Earlier, he paid a courtesy call to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
