South East Asian Grand Prix: Azizulhasni, Fatehah win sprint title

KUALA LUMPUR: As expected, the nations’ top riders delivered the goods at round one of the South East Asian Grand Prix at the Kuala Lumpur Velodrome today.

Azizulhasni Awang took the men's sprint title after beating Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom in the decider. He won both rounds of the final in 11.625 seconds and 11.041s.

Fatehah Mustapa defeated Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan for the women's sprint title, also notching straightforward wins in both rounds (12.419s, 13.375s).

The men's points race saw Timur Gumerov of Uzbekistan clinching the title with 66 points. Thailand's Sarawut Sirironnachai (45) and Muhammad Zawawi Azman (40) came in second and third.

Ruslan Fedorov (Uzbekistan) won the men's scratch race (15km) with Muhammad Afiq Huznie and Muhammad Zawawi Azman coming in second and third.
