Special committee set up to find missing students

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is looking at the case of the missing students in Kelantan very seriously.

Seven students of SK Tohoi, Gua Musang went missing on August 23.

The Kelantan State Education Department, the District Education Office of Gua Musang, SK Tohoi teachers, the Police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Department of Orang Asli Development and the Civil Defence Department with the help of villagers are still trying to locate them in the area.

A Special Committee, chaired by an officer from the District Education Office has been formed which involves all the above parties to monitor the situation and continue with the search and rescue efforts of the missing students.

The Committee will also determine the measures to be taken until all of the missing students are found.

An operations room has also been established in the District Education Office to coordinate the search and rescue progress.

“MOE is concerned about the safety of the students as they are still children. The Kelantan State Education Department and Gua Musang District Education Office have been instructed to take all necessary and reasonable measures to find the students,” Director General of Education Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said in a statement earlier today.
