Kelantan win the President's Cup for a sixth time

KUALA LUMPUR: Kelantan won their sixth President's Cup Under-21 title after beating Penang 2-1 in the final at the City Stadium in Georgetown on Friday despite playing with 10 men for more than half-an-hour.

Azwan Aripin scored the winner in the 66th minute, just eight minutes after Kelantan captain Qayyum Marjoni Sabil saw red for a second booking.

Fakhrul Zaman Wan Abdullah Zawawi put Kelantan ahead in the 38th minute with his 10th goal of the competition before Penang's Amirul Syazani Roslan equalised five minutes after half-time.

The title was Kelantan's third in five years and their sixth in all while Penang were making just their second final appearance and first since 2004, when they beat Johor 2-1 in the final.

Pahang's Faizal Abdul Rani finished as the tournament's top scorer with 23 goals, six more than Amirul Syahmi Ashari of Terengganu.
