JOHOR BARU: A nine-year-old boy on a bicycle was killed in an accident involving a school bus in Taman Setia Indah here at 6pm today.
Najihussyakir Roslan died instantly due to severe head injuries in the incident.
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said initial investigations revealed that the school bus was passing by Jalan Setia 7/11 when the boy on bicycle collided into the vehicle.
"The bus driver was sending pupils from Foon Yew High School to the Zon Setia 7 housing area in Taman Setia Indah.
"While it was passing by Jalan Setia 7/11, Taman Setia Indah, the child suddenly cycled out of a lane and headed towards the middle of the road and collided with the bus," said Samad in a statement.
Najihussyakir was a pupil at SK Taman Daya.
