BN component parties should settle internal problems: Zahid

IPOH: All Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties should settle their internal problems to help the coalition win big in the next general elections, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said MIC, MCA, Gerakan and other component parties in Sabah and Sarawak should focus on the matter as the coalition did not face any problems among themselves.

"We do not have inter-party problems especially at the top level.

"Therefore, those at the parliamentary and polling stations must strengthen their cooperation to help our candidates win," he said when opening the Sungai Siput Umno division delegates' meeting here today.

Zahid, who is Umno vice-president, also reminded party members that they must always support BN candidates fielded by the coalition.

He said Umno allowed BN component parties to contest in Malay-majority constituencies as it was part of the coalition's power-sharing concept.
