Monk shot dead

SEPANG: An owner of a prayer items shop was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds at his shop in Taman Putra Prima Puchong.

R. Muthuraman, 30, whose body was found lying face down at 1.10pm, was shot six times.

Sepang district police chief Abdul Aziz Ali said the victim was shot three times on the chest and another three on the back.

"We also discovered six empty gun shells near the body,” he said, adding police were trying to establish the motive behind the killing.

A witness said the victim was seen rushing out of the shop before he collapsed.

Investigation also revealed that the victim was a monk and a fortune teller at a temple in Puchong and had set up a shop selling prayer items four months ago.

"The victim was married and his wife is two months pregnant," a police spokesman said.

The body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
