GEORGE TOWN: Fire destroyed eight empty transit houses at Weld Quay here early this morning.
The incident at Gat Lebuh Nordin 2 stirred a brief panic to residents nearby as the flames enveloped the premises about 4.15am.
Occupants at two of the transit houses were not at home when the blaze razed the properties.
No one was injured in the incident.
A firemen spokesman from the Lebuh Pantai station said his team managed to put the fire under control under ten minutes.
