Interbank rates to remain steady

KUALA LUMPUR: Short-term interbank rates are likely to remain stable today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) intervention to absorb excess liquidity from the financial system.

The central bank estimated today’s liquidity at RM37.362 billion in the conventional system and RM10.718 billion in Islamic funds.

BNM will conduct two RM3 billion conventional money market tenders for five days and seven days respectively.

The central bank will also to conduct a RM2.4 billion Islamic range maturity auction tender for two days to seven days as well as a RM1.8 billion Commodity Murabahah Programme for seven days.

At 4pm, BNM will conduct an up to RM31.4 billion conventional overnight tender and a RM6.6 billion overnight Qard. --BERNAMA
