Dollah Salleh prepared to quit after 10-0 thrashing by UAE

KUALA LUMPUR: Dollah Salleh is prepared to resign as national coach after Malaysia's humiliating 10-0 defeat by the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

The Football Association of Malaysia is expected to make an announcement later today on the future of Dollah and the national team.

The World Cup Group A second round "disaster" was Malaysia's heaviest defeat in international football.

"I don't know, maybe. We will see everything in two or three days," Dollah told the post-match press conference when asked if he plans to resign.

Dollah admitted to being baffled by his team's performance, even resorting to using three goalkeepers during the match.

"I don't know what happened tonight, especially the defence line, we gave away cheap goals, three or four goals were cheap goals," said the former national striker.

"Overall I don't know what to say, it can be considered a disaster for our Malaysian team.

"I did not expect we would concede 10 goals. We only had three or four days to prepare and many players were tired from playing in the Super League."

The defeat leaves Malaysia bottom of Group A with one point from three matches, ahead of Tuesday's clash with Saudi Arabia at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Another hiding could be in store after the Saudis hammered Timor Leste 7-0 in another match.
