KUALA LUMPUR: Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah and three others will be charged in connection with the unlawful #KitaLawan rally on March 28.
City police Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed that the four of them will be brought to court next week.
However, he declined to comment further on the matter.
"Yes they will be charged next week for their role in the Kita Lawan rally," he said.
It was learnt that Chin, PKR's Bayan Baru member of parliament Sim Tze Tzin, PKR’s Jingga 13 head coordinator Fariz Musa and Bersih secretariat Mandeep Singh will be charged under Section 4(2)(C) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012.
Mandeep yesterday posted on his Facebook that he received a call from a Dang Wangi Investigating Officer (IO) saying that he, Chin, Sim and Fariz will be charged under the PAA and would have to be in Jalan Duta Court here on Sept 8.
The #KitaLawan rally which took place in front of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) was held in protest against the jailing of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
