Haze: Three more unhealthy areas

KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Environment’s final Air Pollution Index (API) reading at 5pm today showed three more areas joining the day’s unhealthy air group.

Sungai Petani’s API climbed from 98 to 104, Seri Manjung from 100 to 103 and Kemaman from 99 to 101.

Seremban (170) took the lead from Nilai (169) which had been at the top of the list all day. They are followed by Shah Alam (166), Batu Muda (165), Port Klang (159), Melaka City and Petaling Jaya (153), Bukit Rambai (152) and Putrajaya (151).

Lower on the unhealthy list are Banting (145), Port Dickson (136), Cheras (132), Muar (116), Pasir Gudang (114), Larkin Lama, USM and Kuala Selangor (112), Perai (109), Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (107) and Balok Baru (106).

There are however improvements in three of the moderate group areas namely Kota Tinggi (from 91 to 90), Tanjung Malim (from 83 to 76) and Sri Aman (from 62 to 60).
