Msian duo reach Thailand Open GP Gold final

KOO Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, checked themselves into the final of the Thailand Open GP Gold following an impressive performance in the semi-finals today

The independent pair, upset second seeds Angga Pratama-Ricky Karanda Suwardi of Indonesia 21-19, 17-21, 21-16 to set up a date with another Indonesian pair Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira-Ade Yusuf.

Wahyu-Ade had seen off their own countrymen Gideon Markus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 21-18, 21-16 in the other semi-final match.

"We didn't think too much before the match, because the Indonesians are ranked higher than us.

"They are world No 10, and we are at No 41. The pressure was on them.

"We just prepared well and gave our best in court," said Boon Heong, when contacted in Bangkok.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong, who only resumed their partnership in May, have so far won the Sri Lanka International Challenge (June) and White Nights International Challenge (July)

They will be competing at the Dutch Open GP next week.
