Haze: 12 areas with unhealthy API

KUALA LUMPUR: The haze situation nationwide showed improvement as only 12 areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index as at 11am.

The areas with highest readings were Universiti Sains Malaysia(164) and Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (161).

According to the Department of Environment website, the two areas were among 10 other locations with unhealthy API.

The other areas were Kg Air Putih, Taiping (153); Alor Setar (148); Perai (142); Bakar Arang, Sg. Petani (140); Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (137); Seri Manjung (133); and Langkawi (136).

Also experiencing API in the same category were Kangar (123); Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (114) and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (103).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and above 300, hazardous.
