Fifa punish FAM for crowd disturbances

FIFA's disciplinary committee has sanctioned the FA of Malaysia (FAM) after crowd disturbances led to the abandonment of the World Cup qualifying match against Saudi Arabia on Sept 8.

After analysing the match officials’ reports, FAM’s positions as well as the relevant videos and pictures, and due to the seriousness of the incidents, the disciplinary committee decided that the next home match against UAE on Nov 17will be played in an empty stadium. The committee also decided to impose a fine of CHF 40,000 (RM180,000)and issue FAM with a stern warning.

Furthermore, the disciplinary committee decided that the match against Saudi Arabia be declared to be lost by forfeit by Malaysia (3-0).

FAM was notified today.
