Haze: UPKK postponed, new date to be announced later

PUTRAJAYA: Two papers of the KAFA Class Assessment Test (UPKK) scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed.

Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) director-general, Datuk Othman Mustapha said the Adab I (UPKK04/01) and Adab ll (UPKK04/02) papers have been postponed to another date which will be announced later.

"This decision is made following the announcement by the Education Ministry of the closure of schools in Langkawi due to the unhealthy Air Pollutant Index reading in some places.

"The UPKK examination's postponement involves all examination centres nationwide coordinated by JAKIM," he said in a statement last night.

A total 207,343 candidates would be affected by the postponement, he added.

Othman urged all relevant parties responsible in carrying out the Kafa examination to take an immediate actions following Jakim's latest decision to postpone the two papers tomorrow.
