Haze: Clearer skies finally throughout Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Predictions by weather experts of fair weather and clear skies running up to Oct 10 appear to be on track, with the haze having vastly reduced in intensity nationwide.

As of noon today, the The Department of Environment’s (DOE) readings showed that Port Dickson appears to be the only area with an ‘unhealthy’ Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 102.

This marked a reduction from this morning’s 104 reading.

Langkawi, which had been marred by airport closures and choking haze yesterday, appears to be improving with a reading of 86, compared to 99 this morning.

Other areas also recorded good to moderate API readings.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and above 300, hazardous.

Members of the public can refer to the DOE portal at apims.doe.gov.my for the latest API readings.
