Star Wars, an official app there is

KUALA LUMPUR: Lucasfilm and Disney Interactive has launched the official Star Wars app, bringing breaking news, rich media, social updates, leads to special events and a slew of interactive features as fans countdown to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Designed to put the Star Wars Universe into the palm of its fans, the free app is available for Android and iOS device users. Featuring exclusive content including videos and historical facts, the app also aggregates news and posts from StarWars.com and Star Wars official social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr and Google+, all in real-time.

The Star Wars app is also customisable with themes such as light side, dark side or droid interfaces. Each theme comes with different designs, sounds and animation. Another thematic feature is Weather, where the app brings Star Wars-themed five day forecasts with original art and parallax effects.

In bringing the universe to fans, the app also allow users to unlock 3D characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens using its augmented reality camera feature. The trigger for this feature will also receive updates with new characters and objects introduced.

A fun feature for Jedi wannabes, the Force Trainer feature offer interactive activity where app users can duel a training remote ala Star Wars: A New Hope.

Selfie afficinados are not left out: the app makes possible a selfie of the user as Princess Leia, Han Solo and more in various iconic costumes and settings. Users may also create a GIF animation of memorable scenes and characters to be shared among family and friends.

Users who download the app from App Store, Google Play or Amazon will also be prompted to create their own Star Wars ID, avatar and profile handle; bringing the user straight into the Star Wars fan community.
