Duo who threatened Penang council workers arrested

GEORGE TOWN: The two men who were caught on video threatening three female Penang Island City Council (MBPP) enforcement officers have been detained this afternoon.

The duo, aged 19 and 25, were caught at an eatery in Bandar Baru Air Hitam here.

They will be investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his public functions.

The arrests was confirmed by northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Alatrash Wahid.

Video footage of the 11am incident at Lebuh Campbell on Wednesday, which has since gone viral, showed the enforcement officers being insulted by the duo after their Perodua MyVi, which was parked on a double line by the pavement, was clamped.

The video footage showed the duo trying to pry open the clamp themselves, before one of them started shouting at the officers and calling them names.

The man repeatedly shouted at the officers to open the clamp despite the officers calmly responding that she could only do so after he paid up the RM50 fine.

Before the duo left, one of them delivered a threat as a parting shot: "You anjing, jaga-jaga kalau kami jumpa,” (You dogs, be careful if we meet again).
