Thousands of Form 3 students sit for PT3 exams today

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Form three students nationwide will sit for their Form Three Assessment (PT3) written test today until Oct 15.

The four-day test will proceed despite the recent haze which had plagued the nation.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid on Oct 4 said there will be no changes on the schedules of PT3 (Trial examination of Peperiksaan Menengah Rendah or PMR), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM).

"The examinations will run as scheduled despite the haze situation. The ministry however will assist the schools in providing the students with face masks,” he said.

Schools throughout the country, except in Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak were closed for two days (Oct 5 and 6) due to the worsening air quality.

PT3 written test introduced in 2011, is a replacement of the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) at the lower secondary level and covers 12 subjects including Bahasa Malaysia, English, Maths, Science, Islamic studies, Mandarin, Tamil, Chinese, Integrated Living Skills, Kadazandusan, Iban and Punjabi languages and Integrated Living Skills.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on his Facebook and Twitter wished success to students sitting for the test.

"Study hard and score well in your exams. Once you are done with your exams, you can rest," Najib said
