Highway concessionaires stocks post mixed reaction to new toll rates

KUALA LUMPUR: The stocks of highway concessionaires on Bursa Malaysia posted a mixed reaction to the new toll rates announced today.

The new rates are effective Oct 15 and a dealer said the full impact had yet to be felt by the stocks concerned.

The main turnkey contractor for the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) expressway, Ekovest Bhd’s stock, rose 5.5 sen to 98.5 sen.

That of Kajang Traffic Dispersal Ring Road Expressway (Kajang-SILK Highway) concessionaire, Silk Holdings Bhd’s improved six sen to 54 sen, as of 5pm today.

Meanwhile, the shares of IJM Corp Bhd, which operates and maintain the New Pantai Highway, also known as the NPE Highway and Besraya Highway, was quite the contrary, in declining two sen to RM3.34.

Bina Puri Holdings, the concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR) on the other hand, was flat at 46 sen, at close today. -- Bernama
