Woman found dead inside car at Latar Highway rest area

RAWANG: A body of a woman was found inside a parked car at the Kundang Barat rest area on Latar Highway, today.

Acting Gombak Police Chief Superintendent Abang Kaderi Abang Wasli said the woman who is a local, was found slumbered in the driver's seat of the car alongside a pot of burnt charcoal next to her inside the car.

"Checks inside the car found that the woman, a 33-year-old had all her personal belongings within sight and is believed to have taken her own life by suffocating on a pot of burnt charcoal. Preliminary checks on her remains too did not find any physical injuries," he said in a statement today.

Abang Kaderi said based on the findings at the scene, the victim has been dead for over 24 hours.

"The victim's next of kin, who is the sister, and a friend were also called to the scene to identify the remains, before it was sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.

He too urged anyone with information about the case to contact Sergeant Zulkifli Nordin at 01169728629 or the Gombak district police control room at 03-61262222 or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation of the case.

"So far, the case has been classified as a sudden death report," he said.
