KLANG: Police have denied news that a two-month old baby was kidnapped in Batu Belah, here, which has been widely shared on Whatsapp and gone viral on the social media.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the case happened last year and had already been solved but news about it was spread by irresponsible individuals again recently.
"However, the information circulated about the case is not accurate as it was not a kidnapping case but a custody fight," he said when met at the Excellent Service Award ceremony, here, today.
Abdul Samah said the police are were investigating the individuals responsible in spreading the false news for creating chaos among the public.
At the same time, he advised the public not to spread unverified news.
"Those who receive any news must first verify its authenticity before passing it on to friends to prevent spreading false news," he added.
