Labuan holds Msia's highest unemployment rate, Malacca & Putrajaya lowest

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2015 stands at 3.1 per cent, out of which 2.9 per cent are men and 3.3 percent are women.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Wahid Omar said Labuan holds the highest unemployment rate at 5.5 per cent, followed by Terengganu (4.6 per cent), Sabah (4.5 per cent) and Kelantan (3.8 per cent).

Kuala Lumpur has a 3.3 per cent umemployment rate.

Malacca and Putrajaya share the lowest unemployment rate at 1.1 per cent.

From the total, 11.2 per cent of the unemployed are aged between 15 to 24; 2.7 per cent are between 25 to 34; followed by 0.9 per cent for those aged between 35 to 44.

The least unemployed group are those aged between 55 to 64, standing at 0.3 per cent.

Wahid's written response was to a question by Sim Chee Keong (DAP-Bukit Mertajam) who asked for latest information on unemployment rates according to age, gender, state, race and the highest level of education.
