Tour of Borneo: Amirul bags fourth stage

KUDAT: Terengganu Cycling Team's (TSG) Nur Amirul Fakhruddin Mazuki became the first Malaysian to win a stage in the Tour of Borneo this year after emerging victorious in the Tuaran to Kudat leg today.

Amirul finished the fourth stage, which saw riders covering 149.5 kilometres, in three hours, 43 minutes and 36 seconds, while Kiwi Thomas Hubbard (Data #3 Symantec Racing Team) and Estonian Peeter Pruus (Rietmu-Delfin Continental Cycling Team) came in second and third. Pruus' performance saw him take the yellow jersey from Australian Craig Evers (Data #3 Symantec Racing Team), while Amirul replaced Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi as the leader in the Asian rider classification).

Amirul is second in the general classification behind Pruus' and has an outside chance of overtaking in the final stage tomorrow from Kudat to Kundasang (181.1km) as he is only 1:21s adrift.

TSG's Mohd Harrif Saleh and Indonesian Agung Ali Sahbana (Pegasus Continental Cycling team) took charge of the green (points classification) and red (mountains classification) jerseys.
