SHAH ALAM: Malaysia produced a respectable performance but it wasn’t enough to stop UAE from earning a 2-1 win in the World Cup Qualifying Group A match at Shah Alam Stadium.
It was Malaysia’s fifth defeat in the competition.
Played behind closed doors, midfielder Omar Abdulrahman curled in the opening goal for UAE in the 22nd minute before Ahmed Khalil extended their lead in the 53rd minute.
Baddrol Baktiar, however, reduced the deficit six minutes later when he headed in a Safiq Rahim free kick. Malaysia tried hard to find the equaliser but UAE held on for the three points.
