KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) came back from a goal down to edge Nurinsafi Sporting 2-1 in the quarter-final first leg of the TNB Cup at Bertam Hockey Stadium today.
The return leg will be played on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Nur Rahul Hrsikeda Thaitchana Muruthi gave Nurinsafi, who finished fourth in the league, the lead in the sixth minute, but UiTM fought back to score two goals in the space of four minutes in the fourth quarter.
Hafiz Zainol levelled the score in the 49th minute, and four minutes later, captain Rashid Baharom scored the winning goal for the varsity team, who finished fifth in the league.
Newly crowned league champions Tenaga Nasional are virtually through to the semi-finals after outplaying KL City 7-0.
Terengganu faced a strong challenge from Liaoning of China before prevailing 5-2 at Bukit Jalil.
