Cabbie who brought home kidnapped boy receives SPAD award

KUALA LUMPUR: Taxi driver Hanizan Mohamed Radzi who brought home the abducted five-year-old boy last month was conferred the Special category Award by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).

Hanizan, 42, was presented the award for his honesty and concern in sending the boy home after seeing the child alone on the street and recognising him as the boy who was kidnapped in Sungai Dua.

A picture of the victim went viral of the social media after he was kidnapped.

SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar presented the award to Hanizan. The award was one of three new categories introduced by SPAD.

The other two are the Public Transport Terminal Award and the Meter-On Ratings award.

Among the other winners were Sani Limited Berhad (express bus), Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (stage buses), Colombia Leisure (tour bus) Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (railway provider) and KTM Berhad (train service innovation).

The dinner was held in conjunction with the Land Public Transport symposium titled ‘Journey into the Future: Building People Centric Mobility’ to be held tomorrow. -- Bernama
